Job description

Position Summary: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides continuous monitor observation and rhythm strip documentation. Documents and interprets rhythm strips for all patients. Communicates appropriate nurses of changes in cardiac rhythms. As a member of the nursing unit, conducts self to promote an organized and positive environment.

Essential Functions:

1. Clinical Responsibilities: Provides continuous cardiac monitor observation.
2. Communication Responsibilities: Communicates to the appropriate nurse about changes in cardiac rhythm and documents rhythm strips.
3. Technical Responsibilities: Ensures all cardiac telemetry monitoring equipment is in working order at all times. Flags monitor appropriately, e.g., patient off floor.

Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Less than one year. Training in cardiac monitoring required. Certification preferred.

BLS certification is required - American Heart Association.
