Job Description: Monitor Technician/Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)

Position Overview:

The Monitor Technician/Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, monitoring, and mobility. This role is ideal for skilled communicators who enjoy being the focal point of communication within the healthcare setting. You will develop your patient care and monitoring skills, enhance your communication abilities, and collaborate closely with the Clinical Director to support patient services.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform receptionist and communication duties on the patient care unit
  • Monitor telemetry and recognize cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Support care delivery to patients from diverse backgrounds
  • Use independent decision-making and strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director and charge nurse to ensure optimal care

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of an approved Health Unit Coordinator vocational training and basic arrhythmia course preferred
  • One year of patient care or clerical experience in a medical setting preferred
  • On-the-job training provided, including rhythm identification and EKG telemetry competency
