Job Description

Monitors, records, and reports heart rhythm, seizure, and fall risk activity for patients with orders for telemetry, Electronic Monitoring Unit, and AvaSys Telesitter monitoring. Ensures equipment is in working order in conjunction with Clinical Engineering and IT Departments.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor heart rhythm patterns of patients in the special care unit to detect abnormal variances using telemetry equipment.
  • Review patient information to determine normal heart rhythm, current pattern, and prior variances.
  • Observe the cardiac monitor screen and listen for alarms to identify abnormal variations, informing nurses for patient examination.
  • Measure length and height of patient heart rhythm patterns on graphic tape readout, using calipers, and document on patient records.
  • Provide accurate and timely interpretation and dissemination of information to critical care staff and other healthcare team members regarding patient cardiac rhythms.
  • Promote quality standards and customer service, supporting continuous quality improvement in operations and job performance.
  • Support the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross.
Requirements

High School Diploma, six months experience in rhythm strip interpretation, ability to communicate effectively with medical professionals, and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
