Job summary

Baptist Health System in Texas is seeking a Monitor Tech to provide telemetry monitoring and accurate rhythm analysis for patients. You will identify arrhythmias, document data, and communicate findings to the Registered Nurse per policy.

The role requires a High School diploma, basic dysrhythmia competency within 30 days, and could benefit from an ECG course. Prior monitor tech experience is preferred; this is an on-site position within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• ECG course completion preferred.
• Previous monitor tech experience preferred.
• Basic Dysrhythmia Competency within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician’s order.
• Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems identified as necessary.
• Collects, transmits and documents pertinent patient data to the RN with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change
• Maintains current monitored patients in the Central Surveillance computer system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients on computer monitor
• Maintains small equipment log
• Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff; documents on logs and monitors strips per policy
• Greets, screens and processes incoming unit/dept calls, patients, visitors and messages
• Transcribes physician orders, enters tests, treatment requests into computer system
• Assembles and maintains patient medical records including posting of results
• Monitors requisitions, tracks and reports supplies, equipment, maintenance and repair services
• Exhibits service excellence and demonstrates Studer Principles and “must haves”
• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
• Maintains safe environment
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities

Job Summary

The Monitor Tech provides appropriate telemetry monitoring based on patient’s age and rhythm. Demonstrates knowledge of arrhythmia identification and analysis. Other related duties as assigned.
