Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Monitor Tech for the Central Monitoring unit on a part-time night shift (7p–7a). The role supports the Progressive Care Unit by monitoring telemetry, assisting as a Nursing Assistant, and serving as a Unit Secretary. Cross-training will occur to cover duties across roles.

The technician will monitor rhythm, document findings in the EMR, admit patients to systems, and coordinate transfers while maintaining communication with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
• Successful completion of basic arrhythmia course within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and interprets telemetry heart status and notifies nursing staff of dysrhythmias or abnormal findings.
• Documents events and patient rhythms in the electronic medical record.
• Verifies and creates shift reports for inpatient admissions and critical events.
• Performs clerical duties related to admissions, discharges and transfers in telemetry system.
• Admits patient to system with correct information and manages device transfers.

Monitor Tech - Central Monitoring

Part-Time 7p - 7a

Will cross-train and work as both a Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary in the Progressive Care Unit.

The Monitor Tech monitors and interprets telemetry patient’s heart status and notifies nursing staff and providers of any dysrhythmias or abnormal findings and documents such in electronic medical record.

• Verifies and creates snippets each shift, for all inpatient admissions, for any changes in patient rhythm, and for emergency situations, pre, during and post events.

• Performs clerical duties as related to admissions, discharges and transfers within the telemetry monitoring system.

• Admits patient to system using correct patient information in correct format.

• Sends and receives telemetry monitors in-house via pneumatic tube system.

• Copies and assembles necessary paperwork for in-house and external patient transfers related to telemetry monitoring

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

• Successful completion of basic arrhythmia course required within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Monitor Tech certification preferred.
