Base pay range

$20.00/hr - $29.00/hr

Position Summary

The Telemetry/Monitor Technician is responsible for accurate record keeping, observation of monitors, and prompt reporting of cardiac rhythm changes. The Telemetry/Monitor Technician must possess effective communication skills. This position will perform Unit Secretary duties as assigned (see Unit Secretary Job Description). The employee is expected to demonstrate behavior aligned with the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital and support the hospital’s strategic plan and quality improvement activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms accurately and interpret findings correctly.
  • Promptly report changes in cardiac parameters.
  • Communicate patient information effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain and report arrhythmia strips.
  • Document all observations clearly and accurately.
  • Perform clerical duties efficiently (see Unit Secretary Job Description).
  • Prioritize and assist with unit activities based on patient needs under RN supervision.
  • Manage time effectively and stay organized.
  • Participate in unit initiatives promoting patient safety and customer service.
  • Use computers, scanners, telemetry transmitters, and other equipment safely and effectively.
  • Show respect and dignity to all customers.
  • Present a professional appearance and wear visible name badges.
  • Follow dress code policies.
  • Take ownership of responsibilities, pay attention to details, and meet mandatory obligations.
  • Respond proactively to patient, family, and co-worker needs with a positive attitude.
  • Be sensitive to diverse social, cultural, and physical needs of patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Unit Supervisor.
Position Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Qualifications/Experience: Minimum of 1 year working as a Telemetry Monitor Technician. Internal candidates without minimum experience but with completed training may be considered.
  • Special Skills/Knowledge: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and basic computer skills.
