Job summary

Baptist Health in Illinois is seeking a Monitor Tech to support the Central Monitoring team in the Progressive Care Unit. This part-time role covers 7p–7a and includes cross-training as a Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary to ensure seamless patient care.

The Monitor Tech interprets telemetry, notifies staff of dysrhythmias, and documents events in the EMR. You will handle admissions-related clerical tasks, patient transfers, and in-house monitor logistics.

Qualifications

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation experience.
• Clerical duties related to admissions/ transfers within telemetry system.
• EMR documentation of events and rhythm changes.

Responsibilities

• Verify and create shift snippets for admissions and rhythm changes.
• Perform admissions, discharges and transfers as clerical duties in telemetry system.
• Admit patient to system using correct information.
• Send and receive telemetry monitors via pneumatic tube system.
• Assemble paperwork for transfers related to telemetry monitoring.

Monitor Tech - Central Monitoring

Part-Time 7p - 7a

Will cross-train and work as both a Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary in the Progressive Care Unit.

The Monitor Tech monitors and interprets telemetry patient’s heart status and notifies nursing staff and providers of any dysrhythmias or abnormal findings and documents such in electronic medical record.

• Verifies and creates snippets each shift, for all inpatient admissions, for any changes in patient rhythm, and for emergency situations, pre, during and post events.
• Performs clerical duties as related to admissions, discharges and transfers within the telemetry monitoring system.
• Admits patient to system using correct patient information in correct format.
• Sends and receives telemetry monitors in-house via pneumatic tube system.
• Copies and assembles necessary paperwork for in-house and external patient transfers related to telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Successful completion of basic arrhythmia course required within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Monitor Tech certification preferred.
