Summary
  • The MST is responsible for continuous observation of cardiac rhythms in the Central Monitoring Room. The MST interprets cardiac rhythms and distinguishes between normal and abnormal rhythms. The MST reports cardiac rhythm information accurately and promptly to nursing staff.
Responsibilities
  • Cardiac Monitoring and Rhythm Analysis: Admit patient into system, verify correct telemetry transmitter, complete paperwork, analyze and document rhythm strips, notify staff of rhythm changes, recognize artifacts, maintain vigilance, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Documentation: Record rhythm analysis, responses, and equipment tests at required intervals.
  • Communication: Notify nursing staff of rhythm changes, maintain communication with team, and ensure continuous monitoring.
  • Role Development: Enhance knowledge through practice and education, serve as preceptor, and adhere to professional standards.
  • Department and Organizational Support: Participate in meetings, support organizational programs, and contribute to quality initiatives.
  • Departmental Support: Maintain equipment, keep environment organized, and support patient care environment.
Credentials
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 1+ years of experience or equivalent training, including CCH Dysrhythmia Course and MST Orientation.
