Job summary

Joyous Ventures in Los Angeles is seeking a compassionate Monitor to join our mission-driven team. You’ll provide direct support to residents while ensuring their rights are respected in a safe, secure environment.

This fast-paced, client-facing role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to working with individuals affected by homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and trauma. You’ll participate in trainings on trauma-informed care and safeguarding while upholding community

Responsibilities

• Enforce Joyous Ventures’ rules and regulations consistently
• Uphold policies around alcohol/drug use, harassment, and participant conduct
• Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents (e.g., theft, accidents, medical needs)
• Treat all participants with dignity, fairness, and respect
• De-escalate conflicts with support from the Program Manager and Clinical Social Worker
• Support conflict prevention and risk-reduction strategies
• Manage emergency situations, including contacting law enforcement when necessary
• Participate in trainings on trauma-informed care, racial and gender sensitivity, homelessness, and safeguarding
• Monitor security cameras to ensure ongoing safety
• Complete accurate, timely incident reports

We assist participants with:

• Healthcare access—including identifying a medical home, dental care, and wellness programs


• Linkages to mental health and substance use services


• Benefit enrollment—including health insurance and income support


• In-house mental health counseling, therapy, and support groups addressing emotional well-being and relationship challenges


• Life skills development to foster independence
