Job summary

Nelnet Business Services (NBS) seeks a Database Administrator to manage and optimize MongoDB Atlas across multiple environments. You will work closely with development and Cloud Operations to ensure high reliability and performance of a growing data platform.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in database environments, with hands-on MongoDB Atlas experience and familiarity with Redis and SQL Server. This role includes on-call responsibilities and a strong emphasis on security and disaster recovery.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Five+ years of experience with database systems or data platforms.
Hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas strongly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL is beneficial.
Relevant database/cloud certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Supports day-to-day administration and health of MongoDB Atlas across environments.
Monitors alerts and performance metrics; analyzes cluster health and resource usage.
Assists with capacity management, workload trends, and autoscaling behavior.
Investigates slow queries and index usage with the aim of improving performance.
Collaborates with development teams to optimize queries and ensure reliability.
