G&W Electric Co. is seeking a Furnace Operator for their Illinois manufacturing facility. The role involves heating and alloying metals, adding fluxes, and ensuring metal quality through testing and documentation.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and some experience in manufacturing or foundry settings. The position requires physical endurance and adherence to safety standards in a heavy industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Requires basic math, reading, and measurement skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Manufacturing or foundry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Regulate furnace temperature and charge materials in correct proportions.
• Add fluxes and master alloys to each heat.
• Degas metal and test for gas presence in molten metal.
• Remove molten metal at proper pouring temperature.
• Record temperatures and material additions for quality control.
• Remove slag, transport ladles, and pour metal into molds at correct height/rate.
