Job summary

Griswold Industries seeks a Furnace Operator – GC to set up and operate a foundry furnace, and to use a forklift to move materials to and from the furnace. The role includes cleaning furnaces, periodic maintenance, testing metal readiness with a digital analyzer, and adhering to safety guidelines.

Under general supervision, you will pour metals into molds, charge furnaces for the next day’s cycle, and ensure accurate daily activity reporting.

Qualifications

• Some experience in foundry operations including training in furnace operation.
• Training in metal testing and hazards risks and emergency response procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receives instructions on weights and alloys to be used; starts furnace and adds alloys.
• Uses probe to test metals to determine readiness and composition.
• Controls furnace and moves materials to furnace with forklift.
• Pours metal from furnace to mold and relines furnace when needed.
• Maintains safety and follows company policies; reports daily melted/poured metals.
