Job summary

Labcorp in Overland Park, KS, seeks a Technologist to join our team on a PRN basis. The role involves analyzing specimens, performing complex technical procedures, and maintaining equipment to ensure accurate test results and patient care.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's in a chemical/biological science or MLS degree with 1+ year of testing experience; ASCP or AMT certification preferred. Willingness to work overtime and cross-train in molecular areas is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred, prior Labcorp experience a plus.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and basic computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
