Genesis Reference Laboratories in Centennial, CO is seeking a PRN Molecular Technologist to support our Molecular Testing Department. This role provides Saturday night coverage and additional shifts as needed to support operations and workflow.

The candidate will perform molecular diagnostic testing following SOPs, work with leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant results, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related field.
• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology may be considered based on experience.
• 1–2 years of molecular testing or related lab experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of lab procedures, instrumentation, and quality practices.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical activities: specimen processing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, QC, and documentation.
• Conduct molecular diagnostic testing per SOPs and quality standards.
• Assist with method development, validation, and implementation of new tests.
• Maintain QA and proficiency testing per regulations.
• Review and report test results accurately and communicate critical findings.
• Keep laboratory records compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, assay performance, and workflow issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe lab environment.
• Support additional lab functions as needed.

Genesis Reference Laboratories is seeking a PRN Molecular Technologist to support our growing Molecular Testing Department in Centennial, Colorado. This position will primarily provide coverage on Saturday nights and additional shifts as needed to support laboratory operations, staffing needs, and workflow demands.

The selected candidate will perform molecular diagnostic testing and work closely with laboratory leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant testing services. This role is ideal for a flexible, detail-oriented laboratory professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform assigned pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, including specimen processing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, quality control, and documentation.
• Conduct molecular diagnostic testing and analytical procedures according to established standard operating procedures and quality standards.
• Participate in method development, validation, and implementation of new testing processes as needed.
• Perform quality assurance and proficiency testing activities while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
• Review, analyze, and report test results accurately and promptly, including the communication of critical or abnormal findings according to laboratory procedures.
• Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist with troubleshooting instrumentation, assay performance, and workflow issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Support additional laboratory functions as assigned to meet operational needs.

Schedule

• Saturday Night Shift
• Additional shifts available as needed to provide coverage for vacations, staffing shortages, increased testing volume, and special projects.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a closely related discipline may be considered based on experience and qualifications.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of molecular testing experience or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality practices.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in molecular diagnostics and PCR-based testing.
• Experience with assay validation and laboratory startup or expansion activities.
