Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY seeks a Laboratory Technologist with molecular or histocompatibility experience to support the hematopoietic stem cell and bone marrow transplant program. The role covers DNA extraction, PCR, HLA typing by NGS, engraftment monitoring by NGS, KIR typing and HLA antibody screening.

You will develop and evaluate new clinical assays, contribute to translational research projects, and ensure all work adheres to SOPs and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• NY State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required or eligible to apply for NY license or Histocompatibility restricted license.
• 2+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
• 2+ years of experience in a molecular laboratory strongly preferred.
• Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and maintain competency in technical and related work in the Histocompatibility Laboratory to support HSCT program.
• Test execution including DNA extraction, PCR, HLA typing by NGS, engraftment monitoring by NGS, KIR typing, and HLA antibody screening.
• Interpret molecular data for patient and donor testing.
• Assist with development and evaluation of new clinical assays for pre- and post-transplantation monitoring.
• Contribute to translational research projects.
• Ensure test accuracy by following SOPs and maintain safety per NYS DOH/ASHI/Joint Commission/OSHA/CLIA.
• Perform routine and advanced equipment maintenance.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and manage inventory of reagents and supplies.
• Provide training and feedback on routine laboratory procedures.
