Job summary

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Animal Industry, Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, is seeking a Biological Scientist III to perform molecular testing and diagnostic analysis of aquatic animal specimens. The role involves PCR/qPCR, data analysis, protocol development, and QA in BSL-2/3 containment with collaboration with the Aquatic Section Head.

Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with diagnostic and regulatory standards,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biological, physical, natural, or agricultural sciences with 2 years of related professional experience (or equivalent advanced degree with less experience).
Proficiency in molecular testing techniques including PCR and qPCR.
Valid driver's license required.
Rabies vaccination required with periodic titer measurement.
Experience with biosafety level 2 and 3 laboratory protocols and quality assurance procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform molecular testing and diagnostic analysis of aquatic animal specimens (PCR/qPCR).
Analyze data and support protocol development and QA in BSL-2/3 containment facilities.
Collaborate with the Aquatic Section Head and ensure compliance with diagnostic and regulatory standards.
