Job summary

Zymo Research Corporation invites a dynamic individual to join our R&D team in Irvine, CA. You will contribute to designing and developing next-generation molecular detection technologies, working at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and engineering.

The role involves participating in the full research process, from ideation to testing and presenting findings, with mentorship from an experienced team member. This onsite position offers 20–40 hours per week and a Fall 2026 start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Bioengineering or related fields, or individuals currently pursuing those degrees.
• Good understanding of molecular biology principles and techniques.
• 1+ years of experience in a research laboratory.

• Actively participate in generating new ideas/designs and formulating research strategies.
• Perform experiments to develop and evaluate new systems and technologies.
• Analyze results, troubleshoot experiments and determine next steps.

Job description

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our R&D team! This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in designing and developing next-generation molecular detection technologies . This is a highly interdisciplinary position where you will be working at the intersection of molecular biology, chemistry and engineering.

In this role, you will actively participate in the entire scientific research process of generating new ideas, testing and troubleshooting new systems, analyzing and interpreting results, and presenting your research findings. You will work closely with a senior team member who will provide support and guidance in meeting our research objectives.

If you are passionate about inventing new technologies that will transform how scientists do science, are eager to explore new fields and ideas, and thrive in a multidisciplinary team alongside scientists and engineers – this could be the role for you!

This is an onsite position in Irvine, CA, at 20-40 hours/week with a preferred start date in Fall 2026.

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20.00 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
