Job description

Commercialization Manager - Protein/Enzymes

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Commercialization Team! At Zymo Research, Commercialization Managers are the bridge between our scientific innovations and the market. They are responsible for translating complex technologies into clear customer value propositions, developing go-to-market strategies, and driving adoption of products across global markets.

This role combines portfolio ownership with market insight, commercialization strategy, and cross-functional leadership. Commercialization Managers partner closely with R&D, sales, operations, and the Commercial & Innovation Strategist team to ensure products launch successfully, grow revenue, and address evolving customer needs.

The Commercialization Manager is both a strategist and an executor—owning the product lifecycle while equipping the organization with the tools, messaging, and insights needed to win in the marketplace.

Join us in making a meaningful impact!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Bridge Science to Market
  • Translate Zymo’s technical innovations into compelling customer-facing value propositions.
  • Develop clear product positioning, messaging, and differentiation strategies.
  • Partner with R&D to ensure products are designed and launched with strong market fit.
Drive Adoption & Growth
  • Own and grow assigned product portfolios, ensuring revenue expansion and market adoption.
  • Manage the complete product lifecycle, from concept through launch to maturity and sunset.
  • Develop and execute go‑to‑market (GTM) strategies, campaigns, and launch plans.
  • Shape pricing strategies, financial models, and forecasts to optimize adoption and profitability.
  • Identify customer needs and pain points through VOC (Voice of Customer) research.
  • Conduct market research on emerging technologies, competitors, and customer segments.
  • Monitor competitive landscapes to refine positioning and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Build product strategies, roadmaps, and business plans aligned with Zymo’s commercial priorities.
  • Equip sales, distributors, and internal teams with the knowledge, tools, and messaging needed to succeed.
  • Develop training programs, collateral, and value‑based selling resources.
  • Support distributors and channel partners with technical messaging and positioning guidance.
Business Case Development & Commercialization
  • Build and present business cases supported by VOC, competitive analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Guide investment decisions and portfolio prioritization for existing and adjacent opportunities.
  • Support strategic initiatives that align with broader portfolio and market needs.
Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Partner with R&D, sales, and operations to synchronize product strategies and launches.
  • Ensure scientific credibility and commercial alignment during product launch readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial & Innovation Strategist team to connect portfolio growth with Zymo’s broader innovation roadmap.
Education and Experience
  • Advanced degree in life sciences (MS/PhD strongly preferred; BS with significant relevant experience considered).
  • 3–7 years of experience in product marketing, product management, or commercialization within the life sciences tools or biotechnology industry. Alternatively, candidates with 3–7 years of industry R&D experience who demonstrate strong aptitude and interest in commercialization will also be considered.
  • Strong track record of product launches, revenue growth, and customer adoption strategies.
  • Hands‑on understanding of molecular biology, genomics, or adjacent research fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex science into market‑ready positioning.
  • Strong skills in market analysis, competitive insight, and business case development.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence across technical and commercial teams.
  • Experience supporting distributors, channel partners, or global commercialization a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for trade shows, conferences, and customer‑facing events.
