Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot molding process and adjust machine to produce quality parts.
  • Troubleshoot machines to ensure proper function and quality parts.
  • Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Answer alarms on machines.
  • Mold set up and removal; machine maintenance.
  • Mix material and ensure hoppers are full.
  • Input and extract information from a computer; complete paperwork for production, processing, quality and scrap.
  • Perform quality checks and understand SPC; train new mechanics.
  • Move finished product skids to Q-area and maintain area around machines.

Purpose

Ensures the production objective of safety of all employees, quality of the product and maximum operating efficiency by the utilization of knowledge, training and Production Department resources and communications.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for troubleshooting molding process-making adjustments to the machine, auxiliary equipment, to produce quality parts
  • Responsible for troubleshooting machines – making sure machines are functioning properly to produce quality parts
  • Responsible for troubleshooting auxiliary equipment – making sure all equipment is functioning properly to produce quality parts.
  • Answer alarms on machines
  • Responsible for mold set up and removal.
  • Responsible for mold and machine maintenance.
  • Responsible for mixing material
  • Responsible for making sure machine hoppers are full of material.
  • Input and extract information from a computer.
  • Responsible for completing paperwork – dealing with production, processing, quality and scrap.
  • Responsible for quality checks.
  • Knowledge of SPC.
  • Responsible for completing a full start up after a mold is set up.
  • Responsible for training new mechanics on the machines and the process.
  • Responsible for pulling skids of finished product from production floor to Q-area with hand truck.
  • Responsible for cleaning area around machines.
  • Responsible for grinding parts and runners for reuse or resale.
  • Must be able to follow the ISO and Quality Management Systems
  • Must have own tools and tool box.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Able to work safely and follow Safety Rules and Procedures. Ability to work with cleaning solvents, polishing compounds, rust preventatives, grease and oil. Understand molding, tooling and machinery terminology to allow for competent communication. Ability to slide mold plates of various weights when cleaning, assembling and disassembling. Able to move parts or entire molds from production floor to mold repair area with the use of a hand truck or cart. Packing of product – lifting boxes from floor level to approximately 5 ft. high. Boxes weigh up to 35 lbs. Stack packing when necessary. Pushing barrels weighing up to 300# onto tumbler to mix material. Dumping partial barrels into other barrels or gaylords. Bending into gaylords or barrels to bucket out resin, color or regrind. Lifting 50# bags of resin to empty into barrel. Using calipers, depth gauge, micrometer and magna mike to accurately measure dimensions of finished product and tooling. Able to climb ladders to perform color changes. Demonstrated analytical ability to solve problems and be able to execute a considered and thought out plan. Visually check parts for defects. Able to follow all General Manufacturing Practice procedures. Able to identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel. Able to wear required personal protective equipment. Able to effectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and direct the activities of others. Able to follow all Department Procedures and Directives.
