Job summary

Amcor is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair molding machines and plant equipment in our Kentucky facility. You will diagnose electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC-based systems, perform preventive maintenance, and log all work while ensuring safety and compliance with Amcor standards.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent with 2+ years in industrial maintenance or technical training, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years industrial maintenance or technical training.
  • Read and interpret schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Associates degree or technical training preferred for advanced diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, remove and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and optic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls.
  • Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears and related equipment.
  • Log all work performed and maintain clean, safe work areas.
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Perform PMs, cleans and lubricates molding machines and equipment.
  • Install and relocate equipment as needed.

Job description

  • Work in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel and mold technicians as needed to keep all equipment in top working order resulting in only quality product being released to the customer.
  • Troubleshoot, remove and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and optic systems.
  • Pre-inspect parts or equipment to be repaired to determine what parts, supplies, forms, tools, tool repair and shop equipment are required; and communicate with Maintenance Manager.
  • Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls.
  • Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears and related equipment.
  • Communicate with other plant personnel when requested to, to review deficiencies.
  • Accurately log all work performed.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean orderly manner.
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Perform PM’s, cleans and lubricates molding machines and equipment
  • Modifies, repairs, and rebuilds plant machinery and equipment
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair
  • Visually inspects and solves problem machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
  • Measures parts to detect wear, misalignment or improper operation
  • Documents repairs and maintenance of manufacturing equipment
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
  • Potential duties may also include: Fabrication and installation of related trades; performing building maintenance; and general facility repairs
  • Performs installation of new equipment and or relocation of equipment
  • Understanding of the functionality of relays, motor contactors, motor starters, solid state relays, soft starts and variable frequency drives.
  • Familiarity with operation and troubleshooting of PLC programming
  • Ability to read, interpret, and trouble shoot using schematic diagrams
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Experience in electrical distribution and machine controls ranging from 24 to 480 volts AC/DC
  • Safely perform plant lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment and other safety programs and apply these procedures when working on equipment.
  • Other duties and/or jobs as assigned.

Educational, Skill, & Physical Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years industrial maintenance, manufacturing, technical school &/or Associates degree from an accredited technical institute or combination education and experience.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required.
  • Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
