SUMMARY:

The Molding Inspector performs visual and/or mechanical inspection on component parts in order to ensure quality of production runs. The Molding Inspector utilizes inspection equipment (scopes, gauges, etc.) to ensure components meet required specifications. This position also enters in-process information into a computer system as well as assisting in housekeeping within the department to maintain a safe work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform in-process inspections of molded components per ISO procedures.
  • Compare product with part specifications. Verify specified dimensions perform color match if required.
  • Audit production for defective components when required.
  • Disposition rejected or defective product in accordance with supervisor instructions.
  • Generate hold tickets when required for product evaluation.
  • Document all inspection information from in-process checks into computer system.
  • Assist with production operations as required. (Scanning, dumping, breaks, housekeeping)
  • Collect shots for in-process inspections. Check MIU for correct lot number, color, cavitation, mold number, etc.
  • Check components per ISO procedures to ensure quality of production using various inspection equipment. Perform color matches of components if required.
  • Enter inspection data into computer system.
  • Assist with other production operations as required.
  • Must follow all work rules and policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

One to three months related experience and/or training

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 58 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

SHIFT HOURS:

1st shift: 6:48 AM--3:00 PM

2nd shift: 2:48 PM--11:00 PM

3rd shift: 10:48 PM--7:00 AM
