Job summary

ABB Installation Products Caribe LLC in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, is seeking an Injection Molding Process Engineer to optimize production methods, cycle times, and equipment performance to meet cost and quality targets.

You will define the working phase sequence for new processes, support start-ups, drive improvement projects, and collaborate with maintenance and production teams to reduce waste and boost productivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • 3+ years in injection molding.
  • Experience with automation is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills (FMEA, Lean, Six Sigma).

Responsibilities

  • Enhance value of the injection molding process by reducing waste.
  • Define phase sequence of new production processes to meet cost budgets.
  • Ensure production methods, cycle-time, equipment performance meet targets.
  • Identify improvements, lead projects with quality and cost targets.
  • Support production during start-up and training.

Each day, you will ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets. You will also showcase your expertise by defining the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.The work model for the role is: onsite. #LI-OnsiteThis role is contributing to the ABB Installation Products Caribe LLC, Vega Baja Puerto Rico, ELIP Division:Key Responsibilities:Responsible for enhancing the value of the injection molding process by eliminating waste and improving efficiency.Defines the working phase sequence of a new production process in order to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget. Ensures appropriate production methods, cycle-time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets.Identifies and recommend improvement opportunities and implements improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timeframe, quality, and cost requirements.Ensures the production process complies with the project targets. Approves the design for processes developed internally or externally and performs final tests with respect to the project.Provides support to Production during the internal/external process/ equipment start-up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources.Evaluates new process technologies to improve productivity, quality, and cost reduction, defining and leading testing activities, approval criteria and external provider choices.Your Background:Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is preferred3+ years of experience in Manufacturing area3+ Experience in injection moldingExperience with equipment automation desirableProblem solving and analytical skills (i.e., Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies)Demonstrate ability to resolve conflicts and address employee/management concerns to achieve win-win resultsStrong oral and written communication skills (Spanish and English)Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlinesLiving ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.What's in it for you:We give you the space to lead, the support to grow, and the chance to make a difference.
