Job summary

ABB in Hackettstown, NJ is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours while meeting quality, cost, and safety targets. This onsite role supports the Manufacturing Engineering Team with cross-functional collaboration.

You will analyze cycle times, validate BOMs and routings, and drive continuous improvement across production areas, partnering with Operations, Quality, and Engineering for sustained results.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience in industrial manufacturing environments with injection molding.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (or higher) preferred.
  • Strong planning and multitasking with cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support for manufacturing equipment, including molding machines and test systems.
  • Develop, audit, and improve BOMs, production routings, SOPs through time studies and pilot runs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to drive efficiency, standardization and best practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on quality activities and incoming part / material improvements.

Each day, you will ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets. You will also showcase your expertise by defining the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.The work model for the role is onsite in our Hackettstown, NJ manufacturing facility. #LI-OnsiteThis role is contributing to the Manufacturing Engineering Team in Hackettstown, NJ . Main stakeholders are the Operations, Quality, and Engineering Team .You will be mainly accountable for:Provide technical troubleshooting and support for manufacturing equipment, including molding machines and test systems, ensuring operational continuity and minimizing downtime.Develop, audit, and continuously improve Bills of Material (BOMs), production routings, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through time studies, process audits, and pilot production runs.Identify and implement improvements to operational processes, driving efficiency, standardization, and best practices across production areas.Collaborate with suppliers on quality-related activities, supporting vendor evaluation and the continuous improvement of incoming parts and materials.Qualifications for the role:3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role; background in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electromechanical Engineering.Hands-on experience in industrial manufacturing environments, with strong preference for injection molding processes.Proven ability to drive and implement organizational change, supported by strategic thinking and proactive planning skills.Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented professional, with strong multitasking and project management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.Continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to operational excellence.Candidates must already possess authorization to work for ABB in the USNice to Have:In-depth background in injection molding manufacturing.Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher).Proficiency in MS Office package, with emphasis on Excel and Access.What's in it for you:We empower you to take initiative, challenge ideas, and lead with confidence.
