Job summary

Amphenol Alden is seeking a Mold Tooling Engineering Manager at our Stoughton, MA facility. Lead an internal tool shop and drive design-for-manufacturability for medical connector components and over-molded parts.

You will collaborate with product engineering and external mold shops to ensure robust, cost-effective tooling solutions and support sustaining engineering with tooling improvements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in mold design, tooling, or toolmaking.
• Associates' degree or higher in engineering, manufacturing, or related technical field.
• Working proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
• Ability to conduct effective DFM and tooling feasibility reviews with engineering and suppliers.
• Strong background in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with global manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage an internal tool shop with toolmakers and mold design engineers on staff.
• Lead DFM review on new product designs, identifying draft requirements, parting lines, undercuts, shut-offs, wall transitions, and tooling risks.
• Design and/or review injection molds for medical connector components, over-molded strain reliefs, and cable assemblies.
• Support tooling concepts including gating, venting, cooling, steel conditions, surface finishes, slides, lifters, and other mold actions.
• Partner with product engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable, robust, and cost-effective.
• Interface with external domestic and offshore mold shops during tool design, build, debug, and qualification.
• Assist sustaining engineering teams with tooling-related issues, yield improvements, and design updates.
