Job summary

Oakley in Lake Forest, CA is seeking a skilled Tool Room/Mold Maker to maintain high-quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and visual evaluation. The role requires reading tooling drawings, assembling/disassembling molds, cleaning molds, and supporting maintenance technicians on the shop floor.

The position calls for working to schedules, reducing downtime, and using precision measurement tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their characteristics.
• Ability to read and understand tooling drawings.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
• Initiative and proactive behavior in work environment
• Ability to work more than 8-hours a day, weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand tooling drawings and follow instructions.
• Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly of molds in a safe and timely manner.
• Ability to clean molds and assist Maintenance Technicians when needed.
• Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
• Utilize measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauge, bore micrometers, etc.
• Assist in monitoring process to help keep inventory in stock.
• Reduce machine downtime.
• Maintain tools and equipment, including daily cleaning of tool room machinery.
• Assist in maintaining records on the computerized maintenance management system.
• Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
• Work with Process Engineers to troubleshoot issues with tool or improve on.
• Ability to work on the production floor with tool in press to correct any issue to keep downtime to a minimum.
• Ability to operate a Surface grinder within + or - .0002 on critical details.
• Ability to operate a Bridgeport/Lathe within + or - .001 tolerance.
• Knowledge of Manifold systems such as Mold Master, Synventive, etc.
• Able to polish and bench details.
• Ability to fit new detail and spot in.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and repair.
• Other duties as assigned
