Job Description

Job Title: Mold Technician 1
FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Reports To: Supervisor, Manufacturing (Molding)

Summary

This hands-on technical position involves molding machine setups, start-ups, operation, and shutdowns, following standard work procedures and utilizing Summit Lean Manufacturing System tools. Responsibilities include process verification, inspections, routine quality checks, machine and mold maintenance, troubleshooting, and general housekeeping, safety, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform injection mold changes and machine start-ups safely and efficiently
• Follow all PPE requirements and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout
• Troubleshoot basic machine, equipment, and robot problems
• Assist in mold construction knowledge and initial troubleshooting
• Perform robot end-of-arm tooling maintenance and repair
• Adjust machine processes to meet specifications
• Identify safety concerns and take appropriate action
• Communicate effectively with team members
• Assist in managing shift activities and training
• Complete production paperwork and monitor inventory
• Maintain housekeeping standards and assist with operator breaks
• Support grinding of runners and scrap parts as needed

Training

The position involves progressing through training levels, from Level 1 Side Load to Level 3, with specific time frames and training modules for each level.

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of all required training modules within prescribed timeframes
• Minimum scores on DAT Mechanical Reasoning and Wonderlic tests
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting and working around magnetic fields
• Ability to meet crane licensing requirements

Additional Information

This position generally does not require travel. The description is not exhaustive and duties may be reassigned as needed.
