Job summary

QualDerm Partners seeks a Mohs Histotechnician to support Mohs micrographic surgery procedures across Desert Ridge, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Mesa. This role emphasizes high-quality histology, precision, and teamwork in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Travel is required; occasional MA support is minimal. Join a dedicated Arizona team providing top-tier clinical care and a patient-centered experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or related field.
  • ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification preferred.
  • Experience in histology or Mohs laboratory preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens using Mohs techniques.
  • Process and embed tissue samples for histopathological exam.
  • Perform staining and ensure quality control measures.
  • Document steps and maintain accurate records of processing.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA and laboratory safety standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment for uninterrupted workflow.
  • Collaborate with surgical and clinical teams during Mohs procedures.
  • Support and guide other laboratory staff as needed.
  • Pursue ongoing education to improve histotechnical skills.

This position requires travel and will be covering our offices in Desert Ridge, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Mesa. The Arizona team of board-certified specialists is dedicated to providing complete clinical care for medical dermatology needs, skin cancer surveillance and treatment, as well as medical dermatologic services. Purpose

The Mohs Histotechnician will be responsible for supporting Mohs micrographic surgery procedures by providing high-quality histological services within a dynamic clinical environment. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced atmosphere.

This position is primarily focused on Mohs Histotechnology responsibilities. While occasional Medical Assistant support may be needed, MA duties are minimal and infrequent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques
  • Process and embed tissue samples accurately and efficiently for histopathological examination
  • Perform staining techniques for slide preparation and ensure quality control measures are met
  • Document all steps and processes associated with specimen processing and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow
  • Collaborate with the surgical and clinical teams to ensure a seamless operation during Mohs procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as necessary
  • Engage in continuous education and training to improve histotechnical skills and knowledge
  • Other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or team lead
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology or a related field
  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred
  • Prior experience within a histology or Mohs laboratory is strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
