Apple Inc. Module Test Instrumentation & Automation Engineer intern role to design and run labs for camera prototypes, supporting validation and failure analysis.

You will define characterization plans, develop test equipment, and collect data using Matlab and Python while collaborating with EE, ME, and optics teams to advance future camera hardware.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS, MS or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, CS, Optics or Physics.
  • Proficiency with Matlab, Python, C#, or C++ for lab equipment control and data collection.
  • Experience in image processing and quantitative imaging analysis with Matlab or Python.
  • Hands-on lab setups involving camera, optics, and EE.

Responsibilities

  • Design and perform laboratory experiments to characterize camera prototypes for design validation and failure analysis.
  • Define and execute characterization and validation plans, develop metrics, and develop new test equipment and procedures.

The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. We make amazing products - and we're constantly trying to make them even better. Responsibilities
  • Design and perform laboratory experiments in Apple labs to characterize camera prototypes for design validation and failure analysis
  • Define and execute characterization and validation plans, develop quantitative metrics and analysis to evaluate performance, develop new test equipment and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing BS MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing BS MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics or a related discipline.
  • Experience using Matlab, Python, C#, or C++ for lab equipment control and data collection
  • Experience in image processing and quantitative imaging analysis with Matlab or Python
  • Experience in hands-on lab setups involving camera, optics, and EE
  • Experience with 3D CAD mechanical design for fixtures is a plus
  • Experience with board level circuit debug and soldering is a plus
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
