Job summary

The Talent Mine is recruiting for a Structural Engineer, Modular R&D for a full-time, in-office position in Austin, Texas. You will work in R&D for a client delivering massive AI compute buildouts, designing modular data center structures and supporting fabrication from concept through release.

This role emphasizes hands-on engineering, fast iteration, and cross-discipline collaboration. Bonus: PE license and deep knowledge of steel design and DFM practices are valued.

Qualifications

• Engineered structures hands-on for complex products, modular construction, or heavy fabrication.
• Took a steel or sheet metal product from concept through fabrication.
• Supported production launches of designs and stayed accountable through first articles.
• Treated transport loads, lifting points, and stacking as design constraints.
• Drawings are clean and fabricators rarely call you, you fix the drawing.
• Work across disciplines and iterate fast without losing configuration control.

Responsibilities

• Engineer the structural systems of modular data center product: frames, enclosures, lifting and transport structures from concept through fabrication drawings.
• Own the structural calcs and load paths so modules survive fabrication, shipping, rigging, and stacking.
• Resolve collisions between structure and MEP: penetrations and tolerances.
• Provide structural support for factory and field, answer RFIs same-day and implement fixes in the next revision.
• Drive prototyping and validation through mockups, fit checks, and first-article reviews in person.
