Job summary

MITRE in Orlando, FL seeks a technically oriented software engineer to support modernization of Modeling and Simulation capabilities for Wargaming, Combat Effects, and Campaign Analysis. You will work with senior government leaders to define and execute MITRE’s work, collaborating with industry to integrate capabilities.

The role requires a multi-disciplinary team approach and strong software engineering knowledge; on-site four days a week in Orlando.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Technical background in Full-Stack Software Development, Modeling and Simulation; and/or Development/Security/Operations (DevSecOps).
• Knowledge of Full-Stack Software Development; Agile Development; and software development; and DevSecOps.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
• Experience and proven results utilizing systems engineering and modern software best practices.
• Proven ability to engage sponsors and lead data-driven technical initiatives in government/industry.

Responsibilities

• Leverage a technical understanding of Modeling, Simulation, and Software Engineering to develop, integration, assess, and analyze modern Model and Simulation capability.
• Work within multiple disciplinary development team: Develop, make recommendations, and implement software engineering changes; Deliver strategy to optimize Technical Performance.
• Recognize technical challenges and lead engineering activities to deliver appropriate solutions.
• Identify gaps and shortfalls in operational performance and propose mitigations.
• Establish goals and communicate clear expectations to contribute to sponsor outcomes.
• Establish strong relationships within the sponsor organization and with external partners.
