Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an experienced Modeling and Simulation Engineer to deploy advanced simulation models and validate control algorithms across powertrain, chassis dynamics, and thermal systems for NA market vehicles.

The role operates at the intersection of virtual engineering and real-world validation, leveraging MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, GT-Suite, and virtual frameworks like CarMaker and SCANeR to ensure robust in-vehicle performance and drivability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience developing and deploying simulation models across powertrain, chassis dynamics, and thermal management systems.
• Strong expertise in MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow for control algorithm and model development; demonstrated experience with co-simulation methodologies for validating multi-domain system interactions.
• Fundamental understanding of electric vehicle systems, hybrid/conventional powertrains, and extended-range electric vehicles.
• Fundamental understanding of vehicle dynamics encompassing longitudinal, lateral, and vertical motion analysis.
• Knowledge of off-road dynamics and towing dynamics, including trailer behavior, load distribution, and stability control in towing scenarios.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, etc.), tools (Vector CANalyzer, CANape, etc.), and general vehicle network architecture.
• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain 1D simulation models to predict control algorithm performance across multiple domains using MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, and GT-Suite.
• Design and deploy virtual development frameworks to support development, testing, optimization, and validation of new control algorithm concepts using IPG CarMaker, AVSimulation SCANeR, and others.
• Collaborate on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) system architecture and operation for real-time validation of embedded control systems.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test cases for control algorithm validation in the HIL environment, including edge cases and fault scenarios.
• Support the transition of novel algorithms from simulation to rapid prototyping or embedded hardware for in-vehicle integration.
• Support in-vehicle testing and tuning of control algorithms at NA proving grounds or off-road testing facilities.
