Job summary

Alief Independent School District – Elsik High School in Houston, TX seeks a 2026‑2027 Model Classroom Teacher – Science (Federal Funded) to lead high‑quality science instruction and coaching across campus. The role emphasizes observation, PLCs, and capacity building for Tier 1 instruction, with a focus on equity and student achievement.

The candidate will model best practices, support teachers with professional learning, analyze data to inform instruction, and contribute to district priorities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Appropriate Science Teaching Certification required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of successful Science teaching experience with evidence of increased student achievement required.
• Experience facilitating or presenting professional learning required.
• Experience in a diverse, multicultural district preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach direct instruction equivalent to 50% of the instructional day, including a planning period for MCT and teacher‑like duties.
• Provide high‑quality Science instruction, demonstrating best practices in conceptual understanding, laboratory execution, and problem solving.
• Use the classroom as a professional lab for observation, coaching, and learning walks.
• Partner with campus administrators and teachers to deliver real‑time coaching, modeling, and feedback.
• Lead professional learning aligned with district priorities and the Strategic Plan.
• Co‑facilitate weekly PLCs to ensure standards alignment and student progress monitoring.
• Collaborate to plan standards‑aligned lessons and daily demonstrations of learning.
• Maintain timely documentation of coaching, feedback, and professional learning activities.
