Job summary

Haworth, Inc. in Holland, MI is seeking a paid Model Shop Intern for a hands-on 12-week summer program. You will join a cohort of interns and work onsite at the Corporate Headquarters, gaining exposure to prototyping, fabrication, and design processes.

As a Model Maker intern, you will learn through workshops, mentorship, and real project work that cover CNC, welding, and paint finishing, culminating in Showroom quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college program and will complete an associate’s degree by Fall 2027.
• Available on-site in Holland, MI from May 2027 to August 2027.
• Unrestricted right to work in the US.
• Proficient reading blueprints and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Assist in making prototypes, One-Off parts, and small-batch parts.
• Work on projects using CNC, Brake Press, Lathe, and other shop tools.
• Gain hands-on experience across fabrication, assembly, and showroom deliverables.

We are currently looking for a paid Model Shop Intern to join our team in Holland, MI. This position will be working onsite at the Haworth Corporate Headquarters.

Job Overview

Get ready for an adventurous summer as a Haworth intern! You'll join a cohort of around 50 other dynamic interns for a 12-week program packed with hands on learning. After a few weeks you’ll be attending NeoCon, the largest commercial design event in the world. There you will get an insider's look at all the latest industry trends and innovations. Throughout the summer you will dive into real projects that will give you a taste of what it's like to work in a leading business and manufacturing environment.

Each week brings new experiences as a group. Sharpen your skills with interactive workshops on networking, public speaking, and using AI tools in a business environment. Connect with mentors and see all areas of the office and manufacturing processes. Then unwind at intern only social events where [you can meet people from all corners of the business. By the end of the summer, you'll leave with real skills, an expanded professional network, and memories to last a lifetime. This is your chance to take your career to new heights!

As a Model Maker intern, you will be immersed in an apprenticeship-like program gaining knowledge and experience on a full range of projects that utilize all the tools in our shop, like CNC, Brake Press, Lathe, Manual Mill, Wood working equipment, Hand tools, Paint guns, sewing machines, welders, and 3D printers. Projects consist of making prototypes, One-Off parts, custom parts, small batch manufacturing parts, custom order deliverables, and Showroom quality deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• Part-time or full-time college enrollment who have completed or will complete an associate’s degree in Prototype and Design or Model Design by the Fall of 2027.
• Ability to work On-site in Holland, MI from May 2027 to August 2027.
• Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for the position.
• Ability to bend and climb.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. alone, and up to 100lbs, with accommodations.
• Ability to read blueprints, utilize Geometry, and calculate tolerances.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Woodworking, Metal Fabrication, Welding, and Surface Finishing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Overall GPA of 2.95 or higher
• Prior Haworth Experience
• Previous Employment Experience
• Extra-Curricular Activity Experience such as athletics, clubs, volunteer work, etc.
• Experience with Computer-Aided Design Software (CAD).

Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision after training.
• Open-mindedness with the willingness and ability to embrace change.
• Desire to learn, question, and research solutions to problems.
• Organized with the ability to manage deadlines.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
