Job summary

SSAB in Mobile, AL is seeking a Quality Technician to support Production and Shipping by conducting quality tests to ensure material meets industry specifications. The role includes operating tensile, Charpy, bend testers and CNC centers, performing sample prep, and maintaining a clean, safe work area on a rotating 12-hour shift.

POSITION PURPOSE

Supports Production and Shipping departments, by performing Quality functions of industry specifications that allow SSAB produced material to be supplied to our customers without quality issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Safely operate testing equipment (Tensile, Charpy, Bend)
• Safely operate machining equipment (CNC Machine Centers)
• Safely operate sample preparation equipment
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies and Experience

Required

• Detail Oriented (Accuracy)
• Computer literate (Basic operation and/or troubleshooting).
• Ability to work well with other team members
• Ability to maintain Safe Work area
• Ability to perform Preventive maintenance on equipment
• Attention to detail (Accuracy)
• Ability to perform multiple task simultaneously
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision
• Maintain good attendance record

Preferred

• Experience in the operation of CNC Machining equipment
• Ability to interpret industry specifications (ASTM/EN/API/ABS/CSA)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / DIRECT REPORTS

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Position is full time, non-exempt, and is eligible for overtime
• Position works (12) hours a day; rotating shift
