Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking a Mobility Technician to support patient mobility in an acute care hospital. Working under the department of rehabilitation in partnership with nursing leadership, you help patients regain independence through mobility activities and care.

Strong communication, basic math, and computer skills are essential, with familiarity in EPIC and Microsoft Office. GED or equivalent is required; CNAs or care tech experience preferred.

The Mobility Technician, under the direction of the department of rehabilitation in partnership with nursing unit leadership, assists with patient care related activities to improve and enhance the mobility of patients in an acute care hospital setting.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Basic math, medical terminology, and literacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suite platforms and EPIC.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Patient Care Technician Program or or health sciences program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year or more of experience in health care is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 or more years of experience in customer service or patient care preferred.
• Possess knowledge of common hospital equipment used in patient care.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Working Conditions:

• Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs, pushes or pulls a minimum of 35 lbs, carries up to 35 lbs, and stands a minimum of 7 hours per day; Is able to lift or mobilize patients and can carry necessary equipment/supplies throughout the hospital.
