Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. is seeking a Mobility Technician to assist with patient care activities that enhance mobility in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate should have a High School diploma or GED, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and EPIC software.

This position involves lifting, pushing, or pulling patients and standing for a minimum of 7 hours a day. Candidates with a background in health care are preferred, along with certifications such as AHA Basic Health Care Life Support.

Job description

The Mobility Technician, under the direction of the department of rehabilitation in partnership with nursing unit leadership, assists with patient care related activities to improve and enhance the mobility of patients in an acute care hospital setting.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Basic math, medical terminology, and literacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suite platforms and EPIC.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Patient Care Technician Program or health sciences program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year or more of experience in health care is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 or more years of experience in customer service or patient care preferred.
• Possess knowledge of common hospital equipment used in patient care.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Working Conditions:

Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs, pushes or pulls a minimum of 35 lbs, carries up to 35 lbs, and stands a minimum of 7 hours per day; is able to lift or mobilize patients and can carry necessary equipment/supplies throughout the hospital.
