Job summary

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Mobility Technician for our Acute Care Therapy Department, who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

The Mobility Technician will perform functional assessments, orient patients and families, and assist with non-invasive direct care under RN supervision, including ADLs and transfers. This is a part-time, day-shift role with weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• FIM and quality indicator knowledge and application.
• Transfer techniques knowledge and application.
• Active Maryland CNA license required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs functional assessments on all admissions, orients patients/family members to organization and provides Mobility type activities as delegated by the Manager, (Prospective Payment System -PPS) and Nurse Manager. Documentation of FIM and quality indicators in performance improvement projects.
• Performs direct patient care tasks as established and delegated by the Licensed Registered Nurse.
• Provides direct patient care limited to non-invasive procedures, includes activities of daily living, transfers and mobility.
• Performs competency tasks (EKG’s, bladder scans, blood draw and specimen collection) and communicates with the RN on variations or critical values.
• Other duties may vary by area of assignment.
