Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a Veterinarian to provide in-home hospice and peaceful euthanasia care across Des Moines, Beaverdale, Pleasant Hill and surrounding areas. We offer flexible 2-,3-,4-, and 5-day scheduling with no non-competes and a strong focus on work-life balance.

We value independence and professional autonomy, with support from a dedicated team coordinating appointments and aftercare.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree
• Active North Carolina veterinary license or eligibility
• Valid driver’s license
• A compassionate heart and commitment to exceptional end-of-life care
• Availability consistent with the position's schedule, including some weekends

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice and peaceful euthanasia care.
• Coordinate with families and schedule visits across Des Moines metro.
• Maintain professional independence with support from the team.

Requirements

Who We're Looking For

• DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree
• Active North Carolina veterinary license or eligibility
• Valid driver's license

Hospice experience is not required. We'll support you as you transition into this meaningful field of veterinary medicine.

Our compensation structure is designed to reward your dedication while providing financial stability, with 4-Day positions starting at $90,000 annually and 5-day positions offering a $125,000 annual base salary, plus additional Quarterly Performance-Based Bonus Opportunities.

Our Two, Three-Day and Self-Managed Flex Scheduling Opportunities Available with Pro-Rated Compensation adjusted based on the agreed-upon schedule.
