Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You will work independently in the field while supported by a collaborative medical leadership team and strong operational infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Active veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Availability to work some weekends on a rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care with compassionate, Fear Free-aligned care.
• Support families through end-of-life decisions with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings medical leadership and support teams.

Position Overview

As an Associate Veterinarian with Heartstrings Pet Hospice, you will provide compassionate, gentle in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You'll work independently in the field while being fully supported by a collaborative medical leadership team, dedicated Veterinary Care Specialists (VCS), and strong operational infrastructure. Requirements

Veterinarian Core Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia and hospice care for geriatric and terminally ill pets
• Guide families in making end-of-life decisions for their pets
• Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their excellent care

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school
• Active (or ability to obtain) veterinary license in the state of practice
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license
• Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule

• Candidates will be subject to a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check post-hire and prior to their associated start date
