Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice seeks a dedicated Associate Veterinarian to deliver compassionate in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You’ll work independently in the field while supported by a collaborative medical leadership team and strong operational infrastructure.

Ideal candidates are compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and capable of strong communication with families during emotionally challenging times, seeking meaningful, purpose-driven veterinary work.

Qualifications

• DVM license in good standing; ability to obtain licensure in the state of practice.
• Experience in hospice, end-of-life care, or Fear Free is a plus.
• Willingness to work in-home and travel within the service area.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate manner.

Requirements

Veterinarian Core Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia and hospice care for geriatric and terminally ill pets


• Guide families in making end-of-life decisions for their pets


• Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their excellent care

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school


• Active (or ability to obtain) veterinary license in the state of practice


• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license


• Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance


• Candidates will be subject to a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check post-hire and prior to their associated start date
