Job Summary:

As a Mobile Technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. Under routine supervision, this role works outside of the shop, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards using our mobile service truck.

Job Description:

$5,000 sign-on bonus available for a limited time

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform intermediate level troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc.
2. Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
3. Properly attend to truck inventory
4. May assist with the onboarding and mentoring of new Tractor Technician trainees
5. Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard
6. Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked
7. Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
8. Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs
9. Understand and demonstrate the proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment and perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc.
10. Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water tight
11. Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections sign off

Shift Schedule: Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000lbs
2. 1 year of experience in Semi-Tractor/Trailer maintenance and repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Illustrate a clean motor vehicle record as per JB Hunt guidelines
4. Basic tools are required to successfully perform this role. These tools must be supplied by the employee in most locations. Employees without their own tools may obtain them through toolbox purchase program.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent; 1-3 years of experience in Semi-Trailer maintenance and repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
2. Commercial Drivers License
3. DOT certified in FHWA Inspections and Air Brakes
4. At least 1-year of experience in Federal highway inspections and air brakes
5. Welding certification
6. Forklift certification and experience
7. EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License
8. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
9. Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
10. Ability to multitask
11. Ability to read documents and/or information in English
12. Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
13. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
