Job summary

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Hawaii Pacific Section is seeking a driven tennis instructor for the Play and Learn program. You will be a mobile teaching professional at several park sites, delivering lessons to diverse ages and abilities while following the Community Tennis Director’s schedule.

You’ll teach private, semi-private, and group sessions, maintain a positive, safe learning environment, and communicate effectively with staff and students.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college preferred.
• Proficient computer skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to play tennis at an NTRP level of 4.5 or higher.
• Ability to teach group tennis lessons outdoors.
• Preferred USTA Coaching, RSPA, or PTR certified tennis instructor at a Development Coach level or higher.
• Transportation required; willing to travel to different locations.
• Has contacts and good rapport with the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide tennis instruction for the Play and Learn program.
• Serve as a mobile teaching professional at more than one park site.
• Conduct tennis lessons based on the schedule provided by the Community Tennis Director.
• Teach all ages and abilities.
• Provide private, semi-private, and group tennis lessons.
• Facilitate instruction in a positive and safe environment.
• Be properly groomed and dressed.
• Conduct lessons in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
• Communicate daily with staff and frequently with the Executive Director and Director of Community Tennis.
• Handle communications with students, including rainouts, cancellations, and other questions.
• Maintain, retain, and grow the student base.
• Attend training for professional development.
