Job summary

Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Company is seeking a Route Sales Driver (Mobile Store Manager) based in Redford, MI. You will operate a fully stocked 26-foot Mobile Shoe Store, visiting customer locations and helping workers select safety footwear while building long-term relationships.

You’ll manage inventory, coordinate with accounts, and ensure DOT-compliant driving logs. Overnight travel 2–3 nights weekly is typical, with hotel accommodations provided and a competitive total compensation package.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, route sales, outside sales, retail sales, field sales, account management or related customer-facing roles
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable working independently and managing daily responsibilities with minimal supervision
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to safely operate a 26-foot box truck
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening (CDL not required)
• Ability to lift, carry, push or pull product as needed throughout the workday
• Customer-focused mindset with a genuine desire to help others
• Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during scheduled shoe truck visits
• Help employees select safety footwear that meets company requirements and personal comfort needs
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience through relationship building and personalized service
• Build trust with customers and strengthen long-term account relationships
• Process transactions, collect required signatures, and complete customer purchases accurately
• Assist with exchanges, returns, and customer follow-up as needed
• Operate a 26-foot mobile retail store to pre-scheduled fittings in your region
• Manage daily Mobile Shoe Store visits to ensure outstanding customer service
• Coordinate with account contacts and internal teams before, during and after customer visits
• Accurately complete and maintain driving records and logs, including DOT compliance
• Communicate scheduling conflicts to internal teams as needed
• Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with all regulations
• Stock and maintain inventory levels on the Mobile Shoe Store
• Support inventory management, merchandising and product presentation
• Set up and prepare the mobile store at customer locations
• Monitor inventory accuracy and replenish stock
• Assist with shipping, receiving and warehouse activities
