Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking an ITINERANT SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT to support certified teachers in delivering individualized instruction to students with disabilities. The role involves assisting with behavioral interventions, adapting materials, and supervising students during activities and transitions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred and Work Keys required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and classroom-management abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a certified teacher, performs instructional tasks.
• Maintain behavioral control and implement plans for identified students.
• Work with small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and support routine classroom duties.
• Assist with feeding, positioning, lifting, or moving students as needed.
• Assist students with wash-up and toilet routines and use of assistive devices.
• Supervise students during class, lunch, recess, and field trips.
• Accompany students to and from special education settings and to general classrooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
