Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking an ITINERANT SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT to support students with disabilities under the direction of a certified teacher. The role involves implementing instructional activities, aiding behavioral plans, and assisting in classroom operations.

The incumbent will work with small groups, reinforce learning, and help prepare instructional materials while maintaining a supportive environment across settings as required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred.
• Two years of higher education and Work Keys Test required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a certified teacher, perform instructional tasks.
• Assist with behavior management and plans, if needed.
• Work with small groups to reinforce learning as introduced by the teacher.
• Guide study and corrective instruction directed by the teacher.
• Assist in activities prescribed by therapists.
• Assist students who need special attention and/or assistance.
• Prepare instructional materials for classroom use.
• Assist routine classroom clerical duties such as grading papers.
• Assist in feeding, positioning, lifting, or moving students, if needed.
• Assist with wash‑up and toilet routines as needed.
• Assist in using assistive/adaptive devices.
• Supervise students in special or general education classes.
• Supervise during meals, playground, study hall, field trips, etc.
• Accompany children to and from settings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
