Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a Mobile Technician III to perform preventative maintenance and advanced repairs on class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers. You will diagnose vehicle systems, lead troubleshooting efforts, and train junior technicians while working in a shop between service calls.

You will inspect orders for quality, perform overhauls, and ensure safety and productivity targets are met in a fast-paced environment. CDL preferred; strong welding and air brake skills are valued.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Diesel Tech certificate is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers.
  • Valid CDL is preferred; must provide hand tools.
  • Welding experience and air brake certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Inspect and diagnose vehicle systems and components.
  • Repair brakes, suspensions, electrical, exhaust, and engines.
  • Test drive and verify repairs.
  • Train new service shop employees.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace and comply with safety rules.

Partner with the best in the heavy-duty industry and apply today!GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Mobile Technician III is expected to have mastered all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all vehicle systems with the ability to train and develop other Technicians. Will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESExamine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunction(s).Provide customers with preventative maintenance solutions, whenever appropriate.Maintain 80% productivityExamine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s)Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner.File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.Practice safe driving.EDUCATION & TRAININGHigh school diploma or GEDDiesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE7 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailersDiagnostic experienceTraining experienceWeldingAir Brake CertifiedSKILLS & ABILITIESValid driver’s license with good driving record required.Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.Maintain perfect safety recordAbility to lift 50lbs.WORKING CONDITIONSWORK ENVIRONMENT - Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.FleetPride is the leader in the industry comprised of retail, service, distribution and wholesale divisions.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
