Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a Mobile Technician II to perform preventative maintenance and diagnose vehicle systems. The role involves basic to advanced repairs with limited supervision, and work in the shop between service calls. After-hours on-call rotation may be required.

You will inspect vehicles, carry out maintenance such as oil changes and brake work, and test components to ensure reliability and safety. Strong welding and air-brake skills are valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers.
• Welding experience.
• Air Brake Certified.
• Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
• Maintain a perfect safety record.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).
• Provide customers with preventative maintenance solutions.
• Maintain 80% productivity and prevent comebacks.
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, lubrications, filter replacements.
• Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric).
• Test drive vehicles and components with proper equipment.
• Troubleshoot suspension systems including leaf/coil springs and Hendrickson systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, exhaust, steering, and air conditioning systems.
• Adjust, remove, and replace clutches and driveline components.
• Troubleshoot fuel tanks, fifth wheels, and frames.
• Perform tandem alignment and king pin repairs.
• Welding on aluminum/steel; fabricate repairs.
• Maintain clean workspace and service truck.

Additionally, the Technician II will perform basic diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).Provide customers with preventative maintenance solution, whenever appropriate.Maintain 80% productivityPrevent comebacksPerform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.Utilize machinery in order to repair or fabricate any driveshaft.File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.Practice safe driving.EDUCATION & TRAININGHigh school diploma or GEDDiesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE3 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailersWeldingAir Brake CertifiedSKILLS & ABILITIESValid driver’s license with good driving record required.Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.Maintain perfect safety recordAbility to lift 50lbs.WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK ENVIRONMENT - Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.FleetPride is the leader in the industry comprised of retail, service, distribution and wholesale divisions.
