Job summary

Little Rock School District is seeking a Mobile Security Officer for the Safety and Security department in Little Rock, AR. The role supports the district by preventing threats, assisting with emergencies, and maintaining a safe environment for students, staff and visitors.

This is a nine-month contract with benefits, starting immediately. Requirements include at least 21 years old, a high school diploma or GED, three years of related security experience (associate degree or higher preferred),

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 3 years of related security experience; Associate's degree or higher is preferred (not required)
  • Criminal background: No felony arrests or convictions, No misdemeanor arrests or convictions in the last 6 years
  • Driver's license requirements: valid driver's license; no reckless driving or DWI in the last 7 years; license not suspended, denied, or revoked in the past 3 years
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Must be able to handle the physical demands of security work; work in different weather/environmental conditions
  • Position type: Full-Time, nine (9) month (179 day) contract with benefits

Responsibilities

  • Investigate school vehicle accidents involving buses or other district vehicles
  • Investigate incidents and write detailed reports
  • Patrol assigned areas of the city using a cruiser to monitor premises
  • Assist in transporting students with behavioral issues when needed
  • Observe and report unlawful or suspicious activity
  • Protect people and property from harm, theft, trespassing, fire, or other risks
  • Handle tense situations calmly with good judgment
  • Respond to service calls at all locations in the school
  • Monitor bus stops to prevent problems or incidents
  • Watch for safety hazards including fire risks and other security concerns
  • Communicate effectively in English, both speaking and writing
  • Work with other officials on scene when incidents occur
  • Assist school-based officers with safety and security
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Work a rotating night shift (Monday - Friday) with on-call every 6-7 weeks

JOB GOAL:

To maintain a safe and secure environment for all district students, staff, and visitors by ensuring the school district is prepared to prevent, mitigate possible threats, and effectively respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations that may impact the safety and well‑being of our school community

School/Department: Safety and Security

FLSA: Non - Exempt

Reports to: Asst. Director of Safety & Security

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine (9) month (179 day) contract, Plus Benefits Package NOTE: Precise placement on the salary schedule will be determined based on experience.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 21 years old

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Must have at least 3 years of related experience Associate's degree or higher is preferred (not required)

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions;

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, and operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write.

Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds.

This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information.

Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work areas, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
