Job summary

Housecall Pro is hiring a Staff QA Engineer I to lead mobile quality for iOS and Android. You will build scalable automation, shape validation strategies, and drive AI-assisted testing while collaborating with Engineering and Product to improve release quality.

You will mentor QA engineers, work across real-device platforms, and leverage CI/CD tooling to accelerate velocity, reduce risks, and ensure best-in-class mobile experiences for Pros.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of quality assurance experience testing native iOS and Android apps (manual & automated).
• Advanced mobile automation frameworks experience (Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, Maestro).
• Proficient in Kotlin and/or Swift with Java/TestNG/JUnit experience.
• Experience with real-device testing platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, Firebase Test Lab, TestMu).
• Experience with CI/CD and release tooling (Fastlane, Bitrise, App Center, TestFlight, Google Play Console, GitLab, GitHub).
• Proficient in mobile debugging, crash reporting, observability tools (Crashlytics, Sentry, Datadog).
• Experience with Jira/TestRail and QA methodologies; AI-assisted testing experience valued.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the mobile quality strategy across iOS and Android.
• Design and maintain scalable mobile automation frameworks; integrate into CI/CD.
• Lead testing for mobile scenarios: lifecycle, deep/universal links, push, permissions, biometrics, gestures, accessibility, localization, network conditions.
• Define device/OS coverage using real-device platforms to validate quality.
• Lead mobile release quality practices with tools like Fastlane, Bitrise, App Center, TestFlight, Google Play Console; monitor crash, performance, observability signals.
• Operationalize AI-assisted testing workflows to improve regression, test generation, execution, and defect detection.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Platform to refine requirements and validation strategies for mobile and AI features.
• Improve QA methodologies, automation, metrics, and reusable testing practices across teams.
• Mentor QA engineers on mobile automation, test design, and AI-assisted workflows.
