Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains clearly the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods.
• Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Ensures all test requisitions or labels match and specimens are prepared for transport.
• Packages and stores specimens to maintain sample integrity.
• Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations and attends trainings.
• Answer phone calls and review laboratory results as needed.
